NORTHUMBERLAND - The Olympic torch passed by Spoolon Manufacturing Ltd this week.

The torch travelled from Trenton to Port Hope on Dec. 15. The communities of Trenton, Brighton, Colborne, Cobourg and Port Hope welcomed the symbol of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games before it travels west through the rest of the county and the province.

In Cobourg, the torch was first sighted at the Cobourg Lionís Centre at around 4:27 p.m. From there it travelled south on Division Street passed Spoolon to King St.. It travelled along King until it reached Cobourg RBC where it will made a brief stop. From there it turned on to William Street and headed north to Elgin. The Torch left Cobourg at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Residents and workers were on hand for the festivites, including the West Northumberland Wild girls hockey team.

The torch continued on to Port Hope where the festivites carried on into the evening.
